About Maggie

maggie green painting on HGTVArtist Maggie Green was born and raised in the heart of New York City. She moved to Tampa, Florida in 1987 with her parents and sister. Her mother’s family has lived in Tampa for generations. She graduated from Florida State University in 1995 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Visual Communications, emphasizing graphic design and studio art. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Boston and found her first job in graphic design, and continued her hobby of fine art.

Even after living in such wonderful cities like New York and Boston, and reveling in the constant stimulus, she could not get rid of the sand in her shoes. She returned to Tampa in 1997, where she continued her career in graphic design and rocked n’ rolled in a local band as tambourinist & dancer.

Currently, she is the Exhibits Graphic Designer at The Florida Aquarium. Some of the inspiration of her current works of art have come from the Aquarium. In her beaded paintings, she uses acrylic paints, glass beads and then paint dollops on top of the beads, creating a beautiful, sparkling, 3-dimensional work of art.

She has also recently started painting pet portaits on mailboxes, using weather-resistant paint.

When she paints, she lets her mind and heart open to lead her hands. She has a passion for life and all that it encompasses, and she hopes that her art work will make you smile and maybe even make your heart beat a little faster!

Maggie has just started to become involved with the Tampa art scene. She was accepted into Gala Corina’s Nueva Vida last November 2005, and Gala Corina’s Esperanza! November 2006.
